Tax Traders is a New Zealand fintech company that creates software for accountants so more of their clients can have flexibility with their provisional tax payments. Tax Traders started using Clearhead in 2023 when they had around 20 staff members, and since then have grown rapidly to almost 50 employees, with high retention rates and an employee net promoter score of 89%.

Wide Range of Options
Whilst Tax Traders was already providing paid therapy to their team, the adoption of Clearhead meant they could suddenly offer a much wider range of therapy options in a way that was confidential and secure. The adoption of Clearhead also meant that many more valuable conversations were started around what kind of therapy team members were accessing, and therefore what kind of challenges they were facing.
The easy-to-use dashboard allows team members and their families to access support 24/7, right from their phones or laptops. Users can even see counsellor availability, allowing them to book sessions sooner and avoiding waiting for an allocated time days or even weeks later.
Team members are introduced and shown how to use Clearhead as part of their onboarding experience. New team members are personally taken through the dashboard, including being shown how to use proactive mental health resources and book therapy sessions.

Personalised Support
Tax Traders is one of the companies who offer unlimited therapy sessions to both employees and members of their immediate families, as part of their care for their team.

There are more than 1,000 therapists on Clearhead’s online booking system, all of whom display their specialties for users to see. It allows users to get expert support from counsellors with specific expertise, from couples counselling to managing burnout.
Team members also use the Clearhead “MatchMe” system which helps narrow down and match their employees to the best therapist for their specific needs. The visibility of the Clearhead platform means users can browse counsellors and select someone who appeals to them, rather than be assigned a counsellor at random.

Destigmatisation
Mental health has been notably destigmatised at Tax Traders, where staff openly talk about how they use Clearhead. It is now common for team members to engage in online therapy from one of the quiet rooms during the work day. It’s also common for someone to recommend their counsellor to someone else or chat about who they are seeing in team meetings.
Clearhead is one part of the reason Tax Traders and Taxi have managed to create a psychologically safe culture where people are free to be themselves at work, to talk about what’s happening in their lives and not to be judged or treated any differently as a result.
