Biography

Kia ora! Ko Vanessa toku ingoa. My pronouns are she/her and I am an experienced and qualified counsellor registered with NZAC. I specialize in providing therapy for individuals who have experienced trauma and other significant disruptions in life. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I work closely with my clients to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and goals. My counselling approach is non-judgmental and I can help with grief, anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, self-esteem, lifestyle changes, addiction, sexuality, neurodivergence, and trauma. I also specialise in rainbow and gender affirming counselling. If you or your young person are struggling with these issues, i'm a safe person to to talk to. I also have a corporate background and can understand the challenges that come with working in large scale and smaller scale environments. I also have lived experience with mental health issues and advocate for better understanding and less judgement within the workplace. I am currently studying towards clinical registration as a psychologist and this allows me to bring a unique element to my counselling practice. I strive to create a safe and affirming environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and work together to set and achieve your goals. I understand that accessing counselling can be daunting and try to make the process as easy as possible. Sessions can be held face-to-face, online or phone.
