I am currently working as a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) for Waitaha Primary Health at Three Rivers General Practice in Ashburton. To access the service, patients need to be registered at the Three Rivers Health practice, however all appointments are free and patients can have as many appointments as they need. As a Counsellor, I aim to teach clients how to be Mentally Fit in order to be holistically healthy. I have completed specialist training in the Te Tumu Waiora (means 'to head towards wellness and health') primary mental health model. I see patients of all ages and at all stages of their lives and with any type of issue related to behaviour change or mental wellbeing. My scheduled is specifically arranged so that I can often see patients immediately when they are in the practice. My appointments are typically short – less than 30 minutes and are focused on evidence-based brief interventions. Predominantly utilizing tools from ACT, FACT and CBT.
