"Alcohol makes everything better - until it makes everything worse." I am a substance use practitioner with a masters in psychology and nearly 20 years' experience in the field. My philosophy is that most harmful substance use patterns are rarely the primary problem. Rather, they are a (not very effective) coping mechanism for a range of challenging circumstances and emotions. Anxiety, low mood, stress, insecurity, anger, insomnia, guilt, shame and regret to name just a few. The support I offer is results-focused, with the goal being changing harmful behaviour while identifying and healing underlying issues. Visit www.thinkstraight.nz to learn more.
