Stress, worry, low mood, grief, health challenges, sleep problems or difficult relationships can impact on how we live and enjoy our lives. It’s often great to get some help with these challenges. I love working with people and sharing psychology strategies to help improve wellbeing. I bring kindness and humour to psychology sessions (and I'm happy for sessions to include dropping some F* bombs- some situations call for it!). I am based in the Waikato; however, I see most of my clients via Zoom. I find psychology via Zoom can be very successful as long as you have a good set-up. In preparing for an appointment, I recommend having confidential space to talk freely, minimising disruptions by closing other tabs on their computer and turning off the 'self-view' setting on Zoom (we wouldn't normally look at ourselves in the mirror during a psychology appointment, so we don't need this in videoconferencing either). This helps replicate the successful elements of an in-person appointment; without the travel and associated extra time. I can't make you a cuppa when we're on Zoom, but please feel free to BYO! I take a strength-based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach and work with my clients on their goals. I teach my clients psychology tools to help them manage with work and life stressors and other problems such as worry, grief, anxiety and depression. I work with people with health conditions including heart problems, respiratory conditions, pain, fatigue, cancer and more recently long covid. In addition, I understand the environment and stressors faced by healthcare workers and also offer psychology sessions and supervision to health professionals. Please contact me if you would like more information or want to discuss your needs. I tend to work school hours however have some more flexibility than my online calendar shows so please get in touch if you’d like a different appointment time.
