Stress, worry, low mood, grief, health challenges, sleep problems, burnout or difficult relationships can impact on how we live and enjoy our lives. At times, we can all benefit from help with these kinds of challenges. I love being a psychologist - working with people on their goals and sharing strategies to help improve wellbeing. I bring kindness and humour to psychology sessions (and I'm happy for sessions to include dropping some F* bombs- some situations call for it!). I am based in Cambridge; however, I see most of my clients via Zoom. I find psychology via Zoom can be very successful as long people have a good set-up. In preparing for an appointment, I recommend clients have a confidential space to talk freely, minimise disruptions by closing other tabs on their computer and turn off the 'self-view' setting on Zoom (we wouldn't normally look at ourselves in the mirror during a psychology appointment, so we don't need this in videoconferencing either). This helps replicate the successful elements of an in-person appointment; without the travel and associated extra time. When I have in person appointments I offer to make my clients a cuppa; on Zoom please feel free to BYO! I am trained in health psychology and have spent over a decade working in NZ hospitals. I am specially trained in working with people with health conditions including heart problems, respiratory conditions, pain, fatigue, cancer and more recently long covid. I take a strength-based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. I teach my clients psychology tools to help them manage with work and life stressors and other problems such as worry, grief, anxiety and depression. In addition, I understand the environment and stressors faced by those working in health workers. I work with a number of medical, nursing and allied health professionals offering 1:1 psychology session or professional coaching/supervision. Please contact me if you would like more information or want to discuss your needs. I often have more appointment flexibility than my online calendar shows, so please get in touch if you’d like a different appointment time.
