Counsellor
Specialised support for
Anxiety, Family Difficulties, Mental Health, Narrative Approach, Relationships

I am a counsellor and family therapist with 30 years of experience working with individual adults, children, young people and families. I have experience with many issues including anxiety, stress, family relationships/family difficulties, behaviour issues in children, teen difficulties, relationships, eating issues, OCD, parenting, career, and many others., My approach is optimistic, light-hearted and solution-focused! I have been helping people transform their lives since 1994. Together we will focus on what is important to you, moving beyond problems to create inspiring narratives and possibilities. We will draw upon your strengths, wisdom, values, and commitments and bring them to bear on whatever difficulties you are experiencing. I see problems in the context of wider cultural, societal and family issues rather than an expression of something that is ‘wrong with you’. I have helped people with just about every problem imaginable from anxiety, depression, family troubles, relationship issues, addictions, eating disorders, childhood problems, identity issues, grief and loss, gender and sexuality etc. Since 2003 I have been trained one-on-one and supervised by David Epston, one of the world’s leading therapists, and the co-inventor of Narrative Therapy. I have published widely about my work, and present regularly at international conferences. I have taught counselling at postgraduate level in New Zealand for ten years and I am the CEO of an international programme in advanced narrative therapy. I work mainly as a narrative therapist and incorporate Solution Focused Brief Therapy, The Journey Process, and other approaches in which I am trained, as needed. I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) I am also a trained family therapist, child therapist, and Journey Practitioner. Please have a look at my website where you will find videos and testimonials at www.yourstory.org.nz and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
