Dr Charlotte Mildon, based in the Hawke’s Bay region, was mentored for more than two decades by some of Aotearoa’s most esteemed tohuna, tohunga, and tohunga ahurewa (priests and priestesses of the highest order). Whaiora travel from across the motu to receive healing, drawn by her long-standing reputation for integrity, deep knowledge, and exceptional outcomes. At 64 years old, her character and contributions are widely known before people even meet her. In 2024, Dr Mildon received four awards at the Ngāti Kahungunu Rongoā Symposium, and in 2023 she was honoured as a Hau Ora Hero by Tihei Takitimu for her outstanding service to the community. She is fluent in matekitetanga, romiromi, mirimiri, tā miri, kū miri, and rongoā Māori. Dr Mildon travelled nationally and internationally for 12 years with the Māori Healers as a kai-romiromi and has dedicated more than 30 years to the discipline of Traditional Māori Healing. She affiliates to Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Hinemanuhiri, Tūhoe, Ngāti Porou, and Ngāti Kahungunu. As an ACC-accredited vendor for physical and mental injuries, she works with a natural, integrated approach—drawing on dietary guidance, rongoā remedies, and natural health supplements to support, balance, and restore the body’s systems in cases of long-term chronic conditions and depression. Dr Mildon is committed to empowering whaiora through one-to-one sessions and local wānanga for whānau Māori, teaching them how to heal themselves so they can, in turn, support the wellbeing of their own whānau in the home.
