I currently don't have any space to take on new clients sorry. I am a registered Clinical Arts Therapist based in the multicultural community of West Auckland. In an authentic client-centred approach, I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, by providing individual and whanau sessions. I specialize in services for those who have experienced trauma, family and domestic violence, and sexual abuse. I also have an interest in early childhood, family work and palliative care. Counselling/Therapy Approach I use the integration of several modalities and creative processes from Arts Therapy and Art Psychotherapy framework, including visual arts-making, drawing, painting, clay, textiles, collage, creative writing, poetry, and storytelling. I also offer drama/play therapy and role-playing, movement, mindfulness, sand tray therapy and psychoeducation. I believe creativity helps individuals achieve insight into presenting issues. Following the idea that our behaviours are determined by experiences from our past, focusing on the unconscious mind rather than only what is conscious. This type of self-awareness contributes to a more integrated and regulated sense of self. Developments may include improved interpersonal skills, self-regulation of emotions or attention to difficult emotions, healthy self-esteem and social skills, and the alleviation of stress. I base my work on the idea that expression and creativity, being a natural aspect of all cultures and the human experience of all ages, enhances and informs physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In this context, I develop a therapeutic relationship with clients and incorporate assessment, safety planning, treatment planning and realistic goals to assist in the healing process.
