Oliver is a skilled professional counsellor with extensive experience. Oliver is registered with the counselling peak bodies, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). While Oliver supports clients of all ages and genders, he has a particular interest in those clients that are having challenges with anger and men that are struggling with their mental health. Oliver has been described as an insightful listener. He provides a compassionate and empathetic, safe space, allowing the client to be present, take a pause and be able to articulate the challenges they are enduring. Oliver listens and encourages the client to explore their thoughts and feelings and, through non-judgmental exploration, be able to create their own “Ah ha” moments of self-awareness. Sometimes in life, circumstances can change and we drift from our core values and goals, leaving us unsatisfied and stuck. Patterns of belief and behaviour can then develop that are unhelpful and hook us, pulling us away from the life that we want to live. With guidance, Oliver can help clients develop strategies to bring them to the present, enabling them to unhook from unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Through these strategies, clients can then work towards the life they want to live. Oliver understands that each client is different and therefore uses and integrates different therapeutic modalities based on a client’s therapeutic requirements. The modalities that Oliver uses are Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
