Deanna is a tertiary qualified and accredited Counsellor, maintaining professional registration with both the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (Clinical Registrant) and the Australian Counselling Association. Deanna provides supportive counselling services (Face to Face and National Telehealth - phone and video sessions) for individuals (18+) experiencing difficulties that are impacting their life, functioning and wellbeing. These may include: • Stress • Anxiety • Depression • Self Esteem • Life transitions • Adjusting to change • Work and Career Issues • Relationship and Family Issues • Grief and loss • Health Issues – yourself or your loved ones Respecting that each client and their situation/experience is unique, Deanna tailors support to client needs, goals, values and strengths, utilising evidence-based approaches derived from Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness. Deanna’s therapeutic approach prioritises the therapeutic relationship and client empowerment. Her warmth and genuineness facilitates a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space for clients to express their problem or concerns, clarify their values and goals, explore options and develop skills and strategies to manage difficulties and improve functioning and quality of life. In addition to working in private practice and EAP Counselling, Deanna has wide-ranging experience working in the Emergency Services, Health, Education, and Not-for-profit sectors. Deanna has worked with the Tasmanian Department of Health and the Australian Red Cross in support of emergency management operations. She has occupied positions in research, teaching and community outreach at the University of Tasmania. Deanna worked with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in Canberra and Hobart. As a member of the AFP International Deployment Group, she deployed overseas as part of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands. This experience has nurtured and informed her commitment to improving the wellbeing, functioning, safety, growth and quality of life of individuals.
