Counsellor
Specialised support for
ASD, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Childhood Trauma, Holistic Approach, Mental Health

Hello, I'm Cynthia I am the founder of Clear Mind Directive CMD Counselling Services. I take a holistic approach to well-being. I believe that we need to focus on the whole person to heal the mind. I will guide you and assist you in linking to other agencies if required whilst focusing on your psychosocial mental health and emotional self. I have 15 years of experience working as a clinical therapist, a mental health practitioner, a certified autism spectrum disorder clinical specialist, a certified clinical trauma professional (Level 2), and a certified dialectical behaviour therapist. I've worked in both the private and government health sectors. Previously, I worked in the education sector for ten years, in primary, secondary, and tertiary education. I have worked with children from kindergarten to year 12 as an educator and support officer/counsellor. In tertiary education, I was a career guidance counsellor and education support coordinator. This experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the life span and developmental needs. I have lived in Western Australia and moved to the beautiful coastal City of Rockingham 33 years ago to raise my three children. They are all adults and have given me four wonderful, mischievous grandchildren. I am a proud and cultured woman of diverse heritage, with Irish/Scottish roots from my mother's side and First Nation ancestry on my father's side. My life experience is not only academic in my chosen field or career. I have lived experience as a career for family and friends. I was raised by my grandmother in a 3-bedroom Department housing, which had up to 10 family members living there at any time. My grandmother was a strict disciplinarian, yet she was also deeply caring and compassionate, instilling in me the belief that I should pursue my dreams regardless of the opinions of others. It's this compassion, love, and strength I work with when guiding others. Areas of therapeutic skills are: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) - Research has proven that this therapy works well with those suffering from anxiety and depression Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - DBT focuses on mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. DBT was initially designed to treat people with suicidal behaviour and borderline personality disorder. However, it has been adapted for other mental health problems that threaten a person's safety, relationships, work, and emotional well-being.
