Biography

My name is Tonia MacRae, I am a registered nurse with over 20 years experience. My specialist area is in Perinatal, Infant and Maternal Mental health and Child and Adolescent Mental health. I am a trauma focused therapist utilizing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) psychotherapy and utilising Schema therapy to help you move through your distress and towards a life of health and wellbeing. I use my understanding and experience with the dynamics of attachment and relationship difficulties to help you locate the thoughts and feelings that are bothering you and facilitate your brains own ability to process distressing memories. Therapy is always carried out at your own pace. I am also a trained Safe and Sound Protocol provider, which is an auditory therapy designed around Polyvagal Theory, and is utilised to help soothe the nervous system and enable a person to access the ability to connect with another and transition to other therapy more easily. I am a relational therapist and look forward to working with you to help you through your past and into your present.
